Originally from Carteret County on the scenic North Carolina coast, Mike entered UNC–Chapel Hill in 1971 and quickly fell in love with what he calls “the Southern Part of Heaven.” After graduating in 1975, he chose to make Chapel Hill his lifelong home.

Mike’s professional career has been rooted in the homebuilding industry across central North Carolina. After working in high school and college for Sherwin-Williams Paint Co., he began in 1980 as a sales representative for Triangle Brick Company working closely with developers, homebuilders, general contractors, architects, and subcontractors throughout the Triangle which provided excellent on-site education into the home building & commercial construction processes.

In 1997, he was promoted to Director of Sales–Carolinas, a role that coincided with a major period of expansion for the company. During this time, Triangle Brick grew to become the largest brick manufacturer and supplier in North Carolina.

Throughout his career in the brick industry, Mike was deeply involved in the Durham–Chapel Hill Home Builders Association. He served as a longtime Director and was honored as Associate of the Year in 1985. His commitment to community service extended well beyond the building industry. In the late 1980s, he served on the Orange County Planning Board contributing to the community conversation concerning local growth and development initiatives. Mike was an active member—and later President—of the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Jaycees helping raise funds for the North Carolina Jaycee Burn Center, the American Heart Association, and numerous other local charities and causes.

Since 2004 Mike has enjoyed helping a wide range of real estate clients from large organizations to small local businesses with their commercial leasing or brokerage needs and, since the downturn of 2008, helping individuals and families with their residential real estate needs.

Through every phase of his career, Mike has built a reputation for integrity, dedication, and a genuine commitment to serving his clients and the Triangle community he has long called home.
